Theater at Seneca Valley is a comprehensive program that spotlights student talents both on and off the stage. Students have the opportunity to learn all aspects of theater production, from acting, singing, dancing, playing instruments to the design of costumes, lighting and sound and moving sets and managing props. This collaborative spirit extends beyond our stage, with students from marketing, animation, video and art classes contributing their skills to support our productions. This collective effort creates lasting memories for everyone involved.
Being a parent for any of our productions can seem overwhelming – especially when your student first arrives on the Seneca Valley Secondary Campus for education. There can be a lot to navigate!
Activity Fees
All students are required to pay an activity fee and be drug tested. Only those students who are PERFORMING on-stage are required to pay a performance fee. Students who are involved in the production in any of the crews (those who are not singing, dancing or acting) do not pay this fee. For more information, please click this link.
TEAMS
Following the SV guidelines, our productions each have a TEAMS account where the students will have access to rehearsal schedules, paperwork, videos from rehearsal and other important information. We heavily rely on TEAMS for communication with all of our students.
Rehearsals
Each production rehearses after school for at least 3 – 4 days per week. The directors will set the schedule and communicate the information through the production’s TEAMS account. *For the RGMS Musical, most rehearsals will be finished in time for the students to take the activity buses home.
Parent Communications
Our production teams do their best to send weekly emails to the parents. However, for the most up to date information, we used the Band app. You can join our Band through the below link.
Social Media
We are present on Instagram and Facebook! Give us a Follow!
Volunteer
Parents are at the heart of our productions, and your help is vital to our students’ success. With over 100 students involved in each show, there are many opportunities to get involved and work alongside your child and their friends. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Set Build/Paint Are you handy with a power tool or love to paint? Join us in bringing the stage to life! Parent volunteers are essential for building and painting our incredible sets.
Costume Crew We need a team of parents to help create or source costumes for each show. You don’t have to be able to sew—there are plenty of opportunities for ironing, washing, gluing, labeling, and decorating costumes.
Marketing Crew Help us ensure every production has a full house! Volunteer to hang posters in the community and promote our shows on social media.
Raffle Crew To help offset production costs, we raffle gift baskets during each performance. This team helps with everything from creating the baskets to selling raffle tickets.
Flower/Balloon/Gift Sale Table Crew Celebrate our students’ hard work by helping to sell flowers, candy, and other gifts before shows and during intermission.
Cast & Audience Refreshments We all love to eat! Volunteer to provide food and drinks for the cast and crew during tech week or help sell refreshments to the audience before the show and at intermission.
Lobby Crew Set the stage for a memorable experience the moment the audience walks in. Help us decorate the lobby to match the production’s theme and display photos of the cast and crew.
Box Office Crew Even with online sales, we still need volunteers to sell tickets at the door for every performance.
